This wiki is intended to provide informative articles and links about the practice of breastfeeding. The primary goal is to create a small “reference library” of articles (including “troubleshooting” guides) all in one place. I wish I’d had that when I was learning to breastfeed, instead of jumping from one site to another to get a complete picture. Hopefully, this wiki and its links will be of some help to new and expecting mothers who need practical advice and encouragement. Note to contributing editors: please cite reputable sources, or use articles/publications that do so. Reputable sources include the World Health Organization , American Academy of Pediatrics , American Academy of Family Physicians , etc. This wiki is intended to dispel myths, fears, and misinformation which are unfortunately common, especially within American society. Please edit/contribute with respect, dignity, and care for the cause and for the women who will read what you add here. Many women have been burdened with misinformation and interventions that have essentially sabotaged their chances to breastfeed easily, if at all, and there is no need to distribute judgmental or hateful material if our intention is to educate.

In this wiki, entries will focus on both general and specific topics to the practice and politics of breastfeeding. In the interest of education and providing helpful information, more emphasis will be placed on specific issues and complications that are common for new mothers. Contributors are welcome to write full entries, but many pages in this wiki will provide links to DIRECT information on a particular subject. The idea is to provide informational resources on direct breastfeeding problems, complications, and situations, to help mothers get their immediate questions answered without forcing them to wade through the entirety of a site’s available information.
